Recent commission for an A1 triathlete poster of the Ironman UK in Bolton. Designed as a gift for a husband. Adapted from my travel poster style. Depicts the individual running and cycling with the year completed.

Triathon posters

Triathlon posters. Three events. Private commission.

Triathlon posters. I was commissioned to create a triplicate for a client whose partner has completed three Ironman events across the World. The London triathlon, ITU World Triathlon – Bermuda and  ITU World Triathlon Grand Final – Cozumel. I created bespoke posters for all three events depicting the events of running, swimming and cycling. I tied the three posters together with similar hues and the base colour of blue. The designs were printed at A1.

A customer really liked two of my poster designs, but wanted them at a larger scale. After a quote he purchased two for his kitchen and bought two frames himself. The vector designs allows them to be scaled up to almost any size. He was really pleased with the results. Think they look fabulous.

The Tour of Britain 2018

Tour of Britain 2018

By | Uncategorised | No Comments

Between 2nd – 9th September 2018 The Tour of Britain will pass through towns and cities all over the UK. Two stages are passing through the Lakes. Cockermouth and Barrow in The Lake District. I’ve designed a new poster for this great event. The design depicts two cyclists heading towards Whinlatter Pass which goes through the beautiful Lorton Valley. All the stages are listed at the bottom of the poster

Wildhuman

By | Uncategorised | No Comments

I recently designed a new logo for the outdoor brand Wild Human. Here is a look at the promo video I’ve just added to the holding page. Wild Human offers holistic courses and retreats based around traditional outdoor skills and ancestral movement. The logo was developed with an outdoor edge, but was also clean enough to look modern and professional. The antler allowed me to loosen up a traditional sans serif font to create something a little more bespoke for printed material in the future.

Cover Versions

My cover version poster ‘A Bit of Blue’ is now on sale at No.73 in Brixton my friends funky art gallery in London. The brief was to produce an original piece of artwork inspired by a muscian/song or genre. I wasn’t allowed to use the name of the musician, band, song or album in the artwork. My design was inspired by Blue Note Records and the designs of Reid Miles. The show in Brixton Market runs from 22nd March – 24th April 2016. www.studio73art.com

NEW Lake District Mugs

By | Uncategorised | No Comments

My NEW #lakedistrict mugs are now in stock. Inspired by some of the wildlife I see walking on the fells if I’m lucky. I see the Common buzzard most days and its numbers are thriving after the persecution of the 60s and 70s. The famous Red squirrel is sadly a rare treat these days unless your in a squirrel hotspot. Numbers are in serious decline in the UK and there is talk it could disappear in a generation which is devastating. #NotJustLakes #theplacetobe #lp #redsquirrel

Ian Lawson – Harris Tweed

By | Uncategorised | No Comments

I dropped into this great exhibition by Ian Lawson this week at Rheged, Penrith. His past projects have centered around the mighty Herdwick sheep and the Lake District this time he has teamed up with Harris Tweed to give us a sublime taste of the outer Hebrides. This guy probably has my dream job shooting landscapes and people with a hasselblad camera. The images are truly spectacular to the point were the actually look more like art than a photograph, no easy feat. A hasselblad camera will set you back the price of mid range sports car to a deposit on a house, but the images reflect the price I guess!! Printing them on aluminium also adds a graphic feel to them which I like.  The exhibition is free and well worth a visit if in Cumbria this weekend. #lakedistrict #harristweed #mountains #cumbria

Native wildlife mugs

By | Uncategorised | No Comments

Some new mugs I’m designing. They centre around some of the native animals and birds of the Lake District. Some particularly the red squirrel are in serious decline from around 3.5 million several decades ago to a lean 120,000 recently. The red squirrel was around at the last ice age….let’s do more to save this exquisite creature! #lakedistrict #redsquirrel #mountains  #wildlife #keswick

Blue Note homage

By | Uncategorised | No Comments

Some new posters I’m developing as a homage to Blue Note. After digging out some old vinyl I’d forgotten how fantastic these covers are. They were designed by the celebrated designer for Blue Note Reid Miles. I’ve taken elements and started mixing them up…the combinations are endless and shows how well they have stood the test of time….Reid Miles not mine that is 😉

Finally a Winters Tale!

By | Uncategorised | No Comments

Finally after waiting nearly two months winter arrived yesterday in The Lake District!! Crisp blue skies and glorious snow on the tops. Here are some pictures I took after a mad dash up to Blake Fell from Fangs Brow. I’ve never seen the valley and Grasmere looking so resplendent. I can at last change my homepage photos!! #lakedistrict

Explaining how the A591 will be repaired

By | Uncategorised | No Comments

Explaining how the A591 will be repaired, Dr Ferley says: “What I envisage we will end up with is a reinforced concrete structure, a sort of inverted T-shape with the head of the T at the bottom sitting on the rock, reinforced concrete wall cantilevering from that, and above that and behind that new engineered fill to support the road.” #lakedistrict #gettingthejobdone
