Walking in Martindale

By | Walking | No Comments

I took a friend walking in the lovely valley of Martindale which is quite remote by Lake District standards for a Sunday! This is a lovely area that feels very much like old Lakeland with lots of healthy stone barns, green pasture and mountains on all sides. The mighty ‘High Street’ dominates the area. The Romans and early man both used it to cross the valleys. To get there you follow the other side of the lake from Pooley bridge and go through Howtown and then over the fell. The road is very narrow. The walk took us about 5.5hrs (estimated 3.5 hrs!!) from Beda Fell past Angle Tarn and then straight over The Nab. The descent from The Nab was a bit hairy as we failed to find the gentler path to the side!! At the bottom is an old hunting lodge were The Yellow Earl entertained the Kaiser. No doubt hunting the ancient Red deer herd nearby! Will be back with more sandwiches and water next time. Exceptional light see Bob Allen for full walk details.

Cover Versions

My cover version poster ‘A Bit of Blue’ is now on sale at No.73 in Brixton my friends funky art gallery in London. The brief was to produce an original piece of artwork inspired by a muscian/song or genre. I wasn’t allowed to use the name of the musician, band, song or album in the artwork. My design was inspired by Blue Note Records and the designs of Reid Miles. The show in Brixton Market runs from 22nd March – 24th April 2016. www.studio73art.com
